Tipuana tipu, also known as the Tipu tree or Tipuana, is a species of deciduous tree that is native to South America. It is a fast-growing, large tree that can reach heights of up to 50-70 feet tall and a spread of 40-50 feet. The leaves are large and fern-like, and they are a glossy dark green color. The tree produces clusters of yellow flowers that bloom in the summer and early fall, followed by long, bean-like seed pods. The tree is drought-tolerant and adaptable to a wide range of soils, it is hardy in USDA zones 8-11. It is often used as a shade tree and for its ornamental value, in parks and large gardens, and it can be grown as a street tree.
